Prior to the old-fashioned weenie roast held at the Hoffman Fire Department hosted by District Eight Congressman Robin
Hayes' office, the Richmond County GOP had the privilege to take part in a short question and answer session with Representative
Hayes.
RCGOP: Thank you for giving us this special opportunity.
Congressman Hayes: I'm glad to do it.
RCGOP: Which political figures do you admire who helped to most influence your political ideology and why?
Congressman Hayes: Ronald Reagan and William Wilburforce. Both were moral men who stood tall for doing what was right.
RCGOP: What one piece of legislation or issue do you most want to see mandated during your current term in office?
Congressman Hayes: Stopping illegal immigration.
RCGOP: How was your latest trip to visit the troops overseas, how are they doing, and what difference if any did you
observe from your previous visit?
Congressman Hayes: The troops are great and their moral is high. They are doing a great job of training the Iraqi military
force while also finding and destroying terrorists.
RCGOP: During your tenure as our Eighth District Representative how much growth have you seen within the district among
the Republican Party and what do you foresee in the future?
Congressman Hayes: Growth here has been fair. But there is a still lot of work to be done in the central and eastern
part of the district. Progress is being made because we have a record and a message to grow the party.
RCGOP: What political advice would you give individuals who are interested in becoming politically active and/or considering
running for office?
Congressman Hayes: Support the local and national GOP, as they are your avenues to success.
RCGOP: How would you rate your political experience in the state and in Washington?
Congressman Hayes: My experience and contacts are really helping folks at home which tells me I'm having a positive
effect and that's what really matters.
RCGOP: Elaborate on your comment during the District Convention about the state of the partisan atmosphere that currently
exists in Washington.
Congressman Hayes: National Democrats are about personal destruction. The GOP on the other hand is about doing what's
right for America. Defeating Terrorists, creating opportunity and hope for all.
RCGOP: What is your opinion on the situation surrounding the confirmation of judges?
Congressman Hayes: I feel the Judges deserve and people want an up-or-down vote on the nominees.
RCGOP: Thank you again for this opportunity and your time, Congressman.
Congressman Hayes: Thank you.
