News 14 attacks Congressman Hayes
This is one of the most blatantly biased media attacks the RCGOP
has ever seen. For those who were at the meeting, this so-called 'news report' in no way reflects the concensus view of those
in attendance.
They also conveniently neglected to include coverage of the support
for Congressman Hayes that was openly expressed by several veterans who spoke at the event, some making comments and others
asking questions.
One veteran even stated that Congressman Hayes should get some of
the 'liberal' members of Congress to go along with him on his next visit to Iraq so they could actually meet with members
of the military and maybe that would enlighten them about how important our military personnel are!
Direct quote from the Richmond County Daily Journal: "It was eight years ago Ed O’Neal said he presented Hayes with the proposal and now it is a reality through
Hayes’ efforts.
“He is one man who really supports the veterans,” O’Neal said of Hayes."
Another Journal quote: "Daniel Hoffmann,
director of the VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network, said nothing about the clinic has “been cast in bronze at this
point.”
He said Hayes has been the veterans’ “consistent and reliable source on your behalf”
for the past five years."
Right. So News 14 generates nothing but a hit piece on Congressman
Hayes instead of simply reporting the news.
The liberal media knows who and what they are and they hate it when
the rest of us point it out. The facts speak louder than words.

Veterans met Wednesday to talk about issues, but talk soon turned
to the war in Iraq. |

RICHMOND COUNTY, N.C. -- Some Richmond County veterans call for an end to the
war in Iraq.
A town hall meeting brought veterans together to discuss healthcare, but for many, talk turned to
the Middle East with veterans urging politicians to pull American troops out of Iraq. They said those who don’t may
become political casualties this November.
The meeting took place inside the Rockingham VFW as veterans huddles around to talk about the issues
that are important to them with Election Day right around the corner. For many of the veterans, the war in Iraq topped the
list.
"I see supporting, but supporting is gone,” explained Marine Corps veteran Bob Pruitt, who
served from1950 through 1965. “Those days are over now. We need to get out of there."
Pruitt said November will serve as a referendum on U.S. policy in Iraq.
Ed Floyd served in the 11th Airborne Division during the Korean War. He agrees troops should start
pulling out.
“Hopefully… I hope so,” Floyd said. He added that he thinks the defeat of Sen.
Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) in the Democratic Primary will send a message to fellow supporters of the war -- like Rep. Robin Hayes
(R-8th District) -- that enough is enough.

Rep. Robin Hayes (R-8th District) |

“I think what happened (Tuesday) reflects how far left some members of his
party have gone,” said Hayes.
Hayes insists he is not wavering in backing the cause in Iraq, although he is mindful that public
opinion -- including that of many veterans -- is far from what it was on Election Day 2004.
"I think we should have been out of there a long time ago, and I don't believe we've accomplished
anything to this point so," Floyd said.
Hayes disagrees.
"You do what's right. You stick with it. You don't test the wind."
Hayes vote is the one that matters right now, but in November, Floyd and Pruitt said that could
change.
"I wouldn't vote for him," Pruitt said.
Hayes was first elected to Congress in 1998. Larry Kissel, an anti-way Democrat is challenging Hayes
for the 8th District seat in the fall.
